Marisa Chavez
Associate Attorney
Marisa Chavez brings over a decade of legal experience to Putterman Law, with a practice spanning litigation and corporate advisory work—especially for technology and startup clients. Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, she draws on a deep-rooted connection to innovation and a strong understanding of the fast-paced needs of tech-driven businesses.
Before becoming an attorney, Marisa spent 11 years as a paralegal supporting law firms and in-house legal teams, building a foundation in civil litigation and corporate law. Her litigation experience includes contract disputes, IP claims, employment matters (including PAGA and wage-and-hour), real estate and construction litigation, and international class actions. She offers a seasoned perspective on dispute resolution and proactive legal strategies.
In-house, Marisa worked closely with executive teams at tech companies on mergers and acquisitions, compliance, and commercial operations. She has extensive experience negotiating and drafting key technology contracts—MSAs, NDAs, DPAs, SaaS and licensing agreements, and Terms of Service—and navigating cryptocurrency regulations, including money transmitter licensing and FinCEN compliance.
A strong advocate for startups, Marisa advises founders on early-stage legal matters, including formation, employment agreements, and scalable contract systems. Her practical, collaborative approach aligns with the evolving needs of growing businesses.
Marisa stays current on legal and tech trends to provide clients with strategic, forward-thinking guidance. She earned her J.D. with an emphasis in Business Law and is licensed to practice in California.
